Developing Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs

Programme in Business-Focused Management and Programme in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management.

Programme in Business-Focused Management

There is a tremendous constraint on South Africa’s long-term economic growth due to the lack of management skills in the country. In order to assist with the training of these managers, Education Africahas partnered with UNISA (the University of South Africa) to initiate our Programme in Business-Focused Management, whose content is the result of thorough and extensive research done in the business sector.

Objectives of our Programme in Business-Focused Management

This one-year programme is intended to equip potential managers with:

  • a basic knowledge of the economic environment;
  • methods of price determination in a market economy;
  • a basic understanding of a macro-economic perspective of the South African economy;
  • knowledge of the three important sectors of the economy;
  • the principles of establishing a new business;
  • knowledge of the functioning of a business organisation;
  • the principles of general management;
  • knowledge of the functional management areas;
  • knowledge of effective business communication; and
  • critical factors determining the success of a manager.

Programme in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management

Among the greatest challenges facing South Africa – and one which lies at the very heart of all its socio-economic problems – is the creation of jobs. Education Africa believes that one of the best ways of addressing this problem is to develop the entrepreneurial skills of the unemployed. In short, those who cannot be absorbed into the existing formal economy should be able to start their own businesses and, in this way, assist economic growth and create employment for themselves and others. It was with this in mind that our Programme in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management was created. Education Africa has again partnered with UNISA to initiate this programme.

Objectives of our Programme in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management

This one-year programme is intended to:

  • provide potential entrepreneurs with the necessary knowledge to establish and manage a business in South Africa and elsewhere in Africa;
  • improve the small business management skills of those entrepreneurs who already own a small business; and
  • develop a cadre of entrepreneurs who will promote economic growth and create employment to meet the rising economic expectations of South Africans.
