Tebogo Home for Mentally and Physically Handicapped Children
In 2005, whilst the Vienna University students were building at Modimo O Moholo, another group of Austrian students, from the University of Art in Linz, also arrived in South Africa. Their mission was to build a new kitchen, a laundry, dining areas and therapy rooms for the Tebogo Home in Orange Farm, which caters for mentally and physically handicapped children. The home had been partially destroyed by fire in November 2004, and desperately needed to be repaired and upgraded to cater for the needs of the children.
Their brief was to use locally available, inexpensive building materials, which they did to tremendous effect.
