What is
alumnisa.org?
www.alumnisa.org – helping you maintain school ties. www.alumnisa.org is an Education Africa project which was created out of the need for schools in South Africa to maintain contact with their alumni, many of whom are now scattered across the globe.
Pretoria Boys’ High School and Kearsney College initially approached Education Africa with the idea of being able to channel funds donated to their schools via Education Africa in the UK and USA, thus allowing donors to benefit from local tax incentives.
The website allows for alumni to maintain links with their old schools and stay up-to-date with the developments taking place there. It also facilitates contributions to their schools for future generations.
A portion of the contributions made to schools through this website will be directed to Education Africa, the website host.
Donors can find which schools are registered as Education Africa-supported projects at www.alumnisa.org by clicking on the appropriate field on the navigation bar and following the prompts.
Visitors to the site can catch up on school news and projects currently being undertaken, and can register on the alumni register so that Education Africa can put alumni in contact with their schools. The “News” section on the navigation bar allows access to news from the various schools. The alumni registration bar enables an easy log-in, and the “links” connect to various school websites. There is also a link to Education Africa, the website host.
How donors can get involved
By earmarking funding to Education Africa, locally and/or in the UK and/or USA to support a particular South African school, donors will be issued with a tax certificate immediately upon having made their donation. Thereafter, Education Africa will immediately allocate 80% of the donation to the earmarked school, while the remaining 20% will stay at Education Africa to fund our projects.
In this way, 100% of your funding is channelled into good causes and is being kept within the nonprofit/charity sector. If donations are made to Education Africa, locally and/or in the UK and/or USA from international donors, they will be issued with a tax relief certificate immediately upon transfer of funds.

Conclusion
Through www.alumnisa.org, Education Africa has put in place a website that allows South African school alumni to keep in touch with their old schools. At the same time, the website allows alumni and donors to support their old school and Education Africa in a convenient and hassle-free way.
This website is an ideal vehicle for South African schools to communicate with their alumni throughout the world.
“The difference between a good and great school is the strength of its involvement by alumni.”
